Emotions & The Body

E*Motion=

Movement

I believe emotions are meant to move. What happens if they don’t? Can the emotion get stuck in our bodies?

Emotions are invisible and they have a frequency; just like music, just like you!

Emotions can impact the Autonomic Nervous System, which sends signals to your body.

YES, EMOTIONS IMPACT THE BODY. The nervous system consists of sympathetic and parasympathetic. Sympathetic is your fight/flight response, while parasympathetic is your rest/digest.

How do you know if your sympathetic nervous system is on auto drive? Here may be some signs:

Decreased sex drive

Hypervigilant

Constipation

When peace is in your life, you create chaos

How do you nurture the parasympathetic nervous system?

Grounding techniques

Stillness

Lean into your emotions, become friends with them

Spend time with God

Eating healthy foods

Neurotransmitters are your body’s chemical messengers. These neurotransmitters send signals to your body. Have you ever felt nervous and it was in your “gut” or your face feels “flushed?” Your body responds to emotions.

How do you care for yourself when your emotions are impacting your body? Do you panic? Do you get angry? Are you the type of person to avoid and just “stay busy?” For me, I used to stay busy and “ignored” my body’s communication.

Things became worse and I was diagnosed with cancer. I never thought it would happen to me. At age 32, I developed stage 3 melanoma. It spread to my lymph nodes.

Now, I’m not trying to scare you, but it is important for you to be aware that your emotions can impact your body.

So, where do we go from here?

WE SUPPORT THE BODY WHILE WE UPROOT THE EMOTIONS

Emotions DESERVE to be acknowledged.

I hope you enjoyed this blog just as much as I enjoyed writing it for you. We are here to walk along side of you in your journey. Will you invite us into your most vulnerable self?

Afterall….
